„Study from glorius Communist Liu Yingjun " - book from the Cultural Revolution, First print 1966. Shanghai, 82 pages. 130 x 184 mm. Minor wear.
Liu Yingjun (1945-1966), a native from Changchun, Jilin Province. He joined the People's Liberation Army in 1962. In 1966, during training manoeuvres, he was riding the lead horse of a team pulling a cannon. The horse was frightened and threatened six playing children. Liu managed to save the children, but sustained lethal injuries and died a martyr's death.

The Antiquities and Historic in Athene Museum

Only a few shady streets away from our place of rest is the National Archaeological Museum – which houses by far the most supreme and complete collection of Greek antiquities and relics found anywhere in the world.

The halls are boundless and immaculate. Even without extensive prior knowledge it’s possible to learn a great deal from just a two hour visit to this museum. Time is consistently split between gaping in wonder at each monumental exhibit, and reading with amazement the accompanying description. Some visitors devote an entire day to gaining even a small understanding of the magnificence and grandeur contained within this giant building. I could quite easily have. Yet with only one afternoon remaining in which to observe Athens’ most preeminent vestige, we reluctantly moved on.

The edie awards recognise environmental excellence within projects and individuals. Winner of edie green personality of the year was Franny Armstrong, who has made some landmark independent films (McLibel, The Age of Stupid, Baked Alaska and Drowned Out). Her most recent project is 10:10, a campaign which aims to cut 10% of the UK's emissions within 2010. Launched in September 2009, 10:10 has since been signed up to by the UK's leading politicians, as well as by prominent organisations and individuals.

Unconnected to her work, during November 2009, Ms Armstrong was rescued by London mayor Boris Johnson from an assault in Camden, London. Ms Armstrong praised him as her "knight on a shining bicycle"and reported that he chased off the attackers and then insisted on escorting her home. During the 20 minute journey, she suggested that he adopt the 10:10 policy for the tube and that he pedestrianise Camden Town to which he replied that he wanted to pedestrianise all across London.
